Our standards
Editorial policy
We cite named sources for the facts we publish, with the date we checked them. We publish no average prices, rankings, reviews or invented people, and no one can pay to change a page. This policy covers what we publish, what we refuse, how we expect to be paid and how we fix mistakes.
Who this binds. Every page on HyreRoof, written by the HyreRoof Research Desk. HyreRoof is not a roofing contractor. It inspects, repairs and replaces no roofs, and no company has paid for anything here.
Where do the facts come from?
Primary sources first: model building codes, trade standards bodies, building-science research, state licensing boards and federal datasets such as NOAA storm records and Census housing counts.
Time-sensitive claims carry the date we last checked them. The source is linked on the page, not kept in a file somewhere.
What will we not publish?
- Fake averages. A national price per square presented as if it were your price.
- Unsupported listings. Company listings, ratings or reviews we cannot support from primary sources.
- Unproven claims. Testimonials, case studies, statistics, certifications or awards we cannot evidence.
- Coverage answers. What your insurance policy pays. We explain the terms; your policy and your insurer decide.
- A remote diagnosis. No page or tool can say what is wrong with your roof. That takes a roofer on the roof and in the attic.
- Pages written to rank. Pages built around a phrase instead of a question someone actually has.
What happens when we do not know?
The page says so. That is why this site has no roofer directory today. The research behind one is still being built, and an honest empty space is worth more than a full list we cannot defend.
The research method, with its limits, is on the methodology page.
How do we expect to make money?
HyreRoof expects to earn money by connecting homeowners with roofing companies. That is not live yet, as how HyreRoof works explains. When it is, it will be disclosed wherever it applies, and it will not decide what the guidance says.
Nobody can buy a placement, a ranking or a favorable description on this site. How roofers will be checked explains why we never call a company trusted or approved.
How do we correct mistakes?
Tell us using the contact details below. We fix errors in place, change the review date, and note the correction where it changes the substance of what we said.
Which general sources do the guides cite?
- International Residential Code, roof assemblies, International Code Council
- Roofing technical resources and installation standards, National Roofing Contractors Association
- FORTIFIED Roof and severe-weather research, Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety

- How to file a homeowners claim, Insurance Information Institute
