Corrections policy

If something on HyreRoof is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the source. When a fact changes, the page gets a dated note saying what was wrong, and the change is logged below. We do not quietly edit a figure and move on.

How do I report an error?

Email hello@hyreroof.com with the page address and the sentence you think is wrong. If you have a source, include it. Licensed roofers, adjusters and code officials are especially welcome to write.

What happens next?

  1. We check the claim against the source the page cites, and against yours.
  2. If the page is wrong or the source no longer supports it, we fix the sentence or remove the figure.
  3. The page gets a dated correction note saying what changed.
  4. The correction is added to the log on this page.

If we conclude the page is right, we reply and say why. The full sourcing rules are in the editorial policy.

What is not a correction?

Typos, broken links and rewording that keeps the meaning are fixed without a note. Routine updates, such as a newer edition of a dataset, change the page's checked date but are not logged as corrections.

Corrections log

Questions people ask

How do I report an error on HyreRoof?
Email hello@hyreroof.com with the page address and what you think is wrong. A source helps, but it is not required.
What counts as a correction?
A change to a fact: a figure, a date, a code section, a rule or a source that was wrong or no longer supports the sentence. Fixing a typo or rewording a sentence without changing its meaning is not a correction.
Will you change a page because a company asks?
Only if the page is wrong. Nobody can pay for a change, and a business disliking accurate information is not an error.
How will I know a page was corrected?
The page carries a dated note saying what changed, and the correction is listed in the log on this page.
